Karen Ostenried - Principal and Founder of Get On Stage
Karen has a distinguished background in both medical research and in the entertainment industry, having worked in both professions all over Australia and Germany in the last 27 years. She has worked at the top Australian medical Research Institutes such as The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute Melbourne Australia, Melbourne University, Australian National University in Canberra, University of WA among others and at the Deutches Krebs Forschungzentrum , in Germany as a medical research officer and culminated at Ozgene Pty Ltd as Chief Operations Office in WA. While this has given her experience in logical thinking, she was instrumental in not only setting laboratories and departments up and managing them, she was also instrumental in establishing training and education programs in each of the facilities she worked.
Karen was being paid to sing in a five piece harmony group at the age of 15 and decided to take singing lessons when she was 17 years old and so trained in classical voice for almost two years and then later in Jazz for several years. She went onto perform in front large audiences in venues such as the Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne Concert Hall, Melbourne Town Hall and Geelong Civic Centre, as well as venues in Sydney, Adelaide and Tasmania, in a large variety of genres and from solo piano bars to large festivals and events in groups. Karen also enjoyed the brief but rewarding experience of being in two musicals in WA. In between major events Karen tutored in Voice and Performance. She has also managed to fit in leading her local community Singing Group as Choir Leader and has taken them to perform in front of our Prime minister and other VIP’s at the Zinc stadium in Feb 2011.
